ASL-Interpreted Play - The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me

  • Congregational United CC - Fellowship Hall (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Triad Pride Acting Company is honored to announce its upcoming production of "The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me," the groundbreaking and award-winning show by David Drake. This powerful piece, which chronicles a gay man's self-discovery and call to activism during the height of the AIDS crisis, will be performed at Congregational United Church of Christ.

PARENTAL ADVISORY: This production includes strong language and sexual content.

Accessibility Note: Triad Pride Acting Company is committed to making theatre accessible to everyone. The performance on Saturday, November 15th, 2025, will feature an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter.

Originally debuting Off-Broadway in 1992, "The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me" quickly became one of the longest-running solo shows in New York history, earning David Drake an Obie Award. More than a memoir, the play is a vivid collection of vignettes and monologues that explore the fear, anger, love, and courage shared by a generation of gay men and women. It is a tribute to the revolutionary power of art and activism, sparked by a pivotal moment when the protagonist is profoundly affected by a reading of Larry Kramer’s seminal work, The Normal Heart.

The script has been re-imagined to support a cast of 5 but remains as vital and poignant today as it was thirty years ago, the show offers a raw, emotional, and often humorous look at:

  • The personal and political awakenings of a young gay man.

  • The devastating impact of the AIDS epidemic on the community.

  • The journey from bystander to activist, fueled by a desire to fight for life and dignity.

Triad Pride Acting Company is dedicated to bringing diverse and engaging theatrical experiences to the community. "The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me" perfectly aligns with our mission to entertain, enlighten, and enrich, all while fostering understanding, acceptance, and a deep appreciation for LGBTQIA+ history and resilience.

Shadow-ASL-Interpreted Play - Puffs

Studio One presents an ASL Shadowed production of Puffs, bringing the ASL interpreters on stage alongside the actors!

Summary:
Studio 1 at Holly Hill Mall proudly presents PUFFS, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic, written by Matt Cox. This clever, fast-paced comedy is a must-see for fans of magical tales who always felt like a side character — in the best way!

This is an ASL shadowed production. This production brings ASL interpreters onstage as part of the storytelling. Interns from UNC Greensboro’s interpreting program serve as the interpreters and co-storytellers alongside the actors. The interpreters are brought onstage as part of the actions, instead of being off to the side. Every performance of the ASL shadowed production is interpreted and accessible for Deaf and hard of hearing audiences.

For questions, contact Studio One at (336) 534-0321 or info@studio1online.org.
